8 goals in 26 games is better than 5 goals in 33 games, last time I checked.

Last time he was in this league he scored 8 goals in 26 games.

Is he better than what we have, of course. Is he where we should be taking the team, no.

Especially given our record with injuries and him missing a decent time both the last two seasons.

Re: Romelu Lukaku
I think his stats are 446 apps and 210 goals... and people dont want him. ffs

Do me a favour, let me guess 100+ posts on a player that we won't even sign. Turn it in, ffs!

Re: Romelu Lukaku
He's not slow, slow but he is slower.

He played with 2 strikers at Inter in a slow league on a team that has some great build up play. His hold up play is still excellent and he can still finish.

Just not the type of striker we should be going for.

Re: Romelu Lukaku
Talent not in question at all. Clearly miles better than what we have.

It's the cost and the baggage (and age) and will making him play like Antonio actually work?

Of course I want the version that scored against us every time.....but we are not going to get that version are we.......think about it......

"Anybody thinks Lukaku isn’t better than what we have now needs their Fucking head tested"

Really going out on a limb there.

In the league, our current centre forwards scored 7 goals for us combined last season. Of course we need an improvement.

At 25, Paqueta was our youngest player starting Sunday. If we are going spend money on a striker there are many options without adding another 30 year old.

I am not sure why we want to add slower, older options because they are big names.

Loan. Yes.

Outright purchase. Nope

Re: Romelu Lukaku
At the very least it would stop him scoring against us.

Re: Romelu Lukaku
There's no chance this will happen. He can surely do better than us?

Re: Romelu Lukaku
His goalscoring record is impressive, could be a good signing.

This.

Re: Romelu Lukaku
If we could get him on loan I don’t really see any downside
Also it would allow us to take a punt on a youngster like Ekitka or the such like as being in Europe we’ll have plenty of games to go round
Also allows Antonio to go he clearly wants out and if we can find somebody mug enough to take Ings off our hands we’d be in a far better position than we are now

Re: Romelu Lukaku
I dont think he's a risk at all.
I think he found his level and then couldn't really kick on beyond that.

He's generally done well in mid level teams where he's the focal point and clearly better than anyone else. You let him do his thing and he will score.
Shoe horn him into an existing "elite" team and maybe not.

He struggled at Chelsea because Tuchel didn't play him where he expected to play. And then he had issues with Inter because he left them for Chelsea and they had problems with that from what I remember.

We've seen plenty of players not work in other clubs and do it for us (and vice versa).

Poundland Antonio.

ironsofcanada 4:14 Tue Aug 22
Re: Romelu Lukaku
I read somewhere he still considers himself one of the best strikers in world.

Much younger, hungrier and overall cheaper out there for me.

El Scorchio 4:14 Tue Aug 22
Re: Romelu Lukaku
Actually it's a good point- TBH he did better at Man U than I recall, but still ended up being persona non grata there- in a sort of Maguire situation. And it's been really rocky with Chelsea so I guess it's just red flags. To be fair his career goals to games ratio is almost 1 in 2.
